Marmion hosts exhibit of the best works by Illinois’ young artists
Submitted by Marmion Academy
Throughout the month of January, the Illinois Art Education Association Student Show, which includes a self-portrait by Marmion alumnus Daniel Klug, Class of 2012, will be on display in the Dr. Scholl Exhibit Mezzanine at Marmion Academy, 1000 Butterfield Road, Aurora.
The show is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on school days. A reception, also open to the public, will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.
The IAEA Student Show demonstrates to the public the breadth of experience young people in Illinois are getting in their art programs. Each year IAEA members are asked to submit images of artwork that was created in their classroom. All art submissions are two-dimensional projects produced through a variety of techniques. Approximately 500 pieces of art from students in kindergarten through high school were sent in to be juried and from that group only 40 pieces of outstanding student artwork are chosen.
The show starts out at the IAEA conference in November, then travels to schools, libraries and galleries throughout the state.
