Rosemont’s German-style beer hall to debut Jan. 21

Rosemont is gearing up for a German-style shindig to debut Hofbräuhaus Chicago classic Bavarian beer hall, one of the final venues to open in the village’s new entertainment district.

Modeled after the famous establishment in Munich, Germany, the custom-built, 20,000-square-foot restaurant and brewery located in the village’s MB Financial Park, 5500 Park Place, will be one of four official Hofbräuhaus locations in the United States.

A soft opening is scheduled for 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, with grand opening festivities slated for later this spring.

Last year, the Five Roses Irish Pub, Kings Bowling, Toby Keith’s “I Love this Bar and Grill,” Adobe Gila’s Mexican Cantina, The Park Tavern, and Zanies Comedy Club debuted in the entertainment district, as well as an outdoor ice-skating rink that’s open through Feb. 24. Finishing off the MB Financial Park development will be “My Big Fat Greek Restaurant,” also opening this month.

Hofbräuhaus Chicago features a menu of traditional Bavarian specialties served by Dirndl-wearing waitresses, nightly live entertainment from Germany, and an on-site microbrewery led by a brewmaster trained in the 400-year-old recipes and techniques of Hofbräuhaus-style beer.

“We are excited to bring this classic venue to the Chicago area and MB Financial Park at Rosemont,” said Joe Matuschka, one of the principal owners, in a news release. “Hofbräuhaus Chicago will be an experience unlike any other, with its lively singalongs, dancing in the aisles, standing on benches and wonderful hospitality, it is truly a must-visit destination.”

Four beers will be brewed on-site at Hofbräuhaus Chicago — premium lager, dunkel, light and hefeweizen — along with an array of seasonal brews, including a special Oktoberfest Hofbräuhaus brew. The bar also will serve cocktails and wines.

The venue features a beer garden for the summer months and two rooms for private parties. The beer hall seats more than 500 guests.

Much of the traditional Bavarian specialty dishes will be prepared on-site with locally-available and imported ingredients, such as sauerkraut and frozen pretzels from Germany.

Free parking is available in the lots adjacent to the beer hall or in the nearby parking garage. For more information, visit hofbrauhauschicago.com.
