Lombard welcomes assistant village manager to staff

LOMBARD, Illinois—Nicole Aranas will join the Village of Lombard management staff as the Assistant Village Manager on January 28.

Aranas will report to David Hulseberg, Village Manager, and will be responsible for providing strategic and confidential analysis and assistance to the Village Manager and Department Heads regarding various administrative projects. In her capacity as Assistant Village Manager, Aranas will also be responsible for managing and coordinating projects dealing with risk management, labor contracts, human services and budgeting. She will assist in supervising the Business Administrator, Human Resources Administrator and Communications Coordinator.

“Lombard has a great reputation among municipalities for its high quality of work and professionalism,” Aranas said. “I am impressed with the quality of the leadership team and I look forward to joining them,” she added.

Aranas was most recently employed with the Village of Itasca as the Community Development Director, a position she held for the past 10 years. In her capacity as Community Development Director, Aranas served as zoning administrator, business development director, building commissioner and storm water and flood plain ordinance administrator. She also assisted the Mayor and Village Administrator on special projects, as needed, and served as an advisor to the Village Board of Trustees and Plan Commission.

Prior to joining the staff of the Village of Itasca, Aranas was employed as a municipal attorney for Hervas, Sotos, Condon & Bersani, P.C., where she served as counsel to public entities, officials, employees, board and commissions. In this capacity, she was also involved in the disposition of legal claims, settlement and contract negotiations. Her clients consisted primarily of municipalities and elected officials.

Aranas received her Juris Doctor degree cum laude from the University Of Illinois College of Law. She also holds a Master's Degree and a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

"Lombard is a good match for my skills set and the experience that I have gained by working in municipal government," Aranas explained. "My legal background coupled with my upper management experience have prepared me well for the work I will be performing in Lombard," she added. "I want to be of service to the Village of Lombard and apply my skills to match the needs of the municipality."

“Lombard is very fortunate to have Ms. Aranas join the management team of the Village,” said Hulseberg. “Her experience will serve us well.”

Aranas is married with two children. She and her family reside in Roselle. She will receive a salary of $115,500.
