Suburban parties to be featured on ABC 7’s ‘Countdown Chicago 2013’

Chicago’s top-rated New Year’s Eve countdown show isn’t Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. It’s ABC 7’s live “Countdown Chicago” broadcast of the New Year’s Eve parties around the Chicago area.

Two suburban parties will be featured on this year’s show, “Countdown Chicago 2013,” — the celebrations at Viper Alley in Lincolnshire and the Hotel InterContinental Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont. There also will be live reports from City Winery in Chicago and the Hilton Chicago in the south Loop.

Before the countdown to 2013 and the midnight fireworks show at Navy Pier, “Countdown Chicago 2013” will broadcast live musical performances by Soul Asylum, Los Lobos, pop star Mike Posner and the Prince cover band, Prince Experience.

Now in its 22nd year, “Countdown Chicago” is hosted by ABC 7 sports anchor Mark Giangreco and entertainment reporter Janet Davies. This year, morning news anchor Hosea Sanders and “190 North’s” Mark Nilsson will assist with the coverage. Ji Suk Yi of “Windy City Live” will keep viewers connected through social media.

The broadcast begins at 11:08 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, on ABC 7. It will be streamed live at abc7chicago.com.
