Poll Vault: What's your favorite Christmas movie?
I caught a bit of “A Christmas Story” on TV last weekend. The Bumpuses' dogs had just devoured the Christmas turkey, unleashing a torrent of profanity from the Old Man.
Of course, I had to watch the end. (Spoiler alert: Ralphie and his family go to a Chinese restaurant for dinner, and later he falls asleep cradling his Red Ryder BB gun.)
Don't worry if you missed it last weekend — you have plenty of other opportunities to tune in. TBS is airing “A Christmas Story” for 24 hours straight beginning at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve. It's one of my favorites, so I'm sure I'll see it at least once in its entirety over the holiday.
What is your favorite Christmas movie? Do you watch “It's a Wonderful Life” and/or “Miracle on 34th Street” every year?
If “A Christmas Carol” is your thing, you can catch the 1938 version starring Reginald Owen (3 a.m. Christmas Day on AMC), the 1984 George C. Scott version (3:30 p.m. Christmas Eve on AMC), the 1999 Patrick Stewart version (11 p.m. today on TNT) or the 2009 Jim Carrey version (4 p.m. today on Disney XD), among others.
What about those classic TV specials such as “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “Frosty the Snowman”? How many generations of your family have watched them?
