Monarch Landing residents get In the holiday spirit

Employees of Monarch Landing in Naperville may be enjoying a slightly brighter holiday season due to the generosity of the retirement community's residents.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, more than $68,000 was distributed to front-line employees by the residents during its 2012 Staff Appreciation Celebration Event.

Addressing a standing-room only audience of staff and residents, Jerriane Iseley, chairperson of the staff appreciation fund raising committee said, “Now for the real reason we are here -- to distribute gifts to the men and women who come into our home every day. Some of them are here while we are sleeping. They know us by name. They offer smiles and friendly ‘hellos'. They serve our food. They put our safety first. They are patient when we are slow or forgetful. They clean up our messes. They sometimes think of us as their parents or grandparents. They listen to our suggestions. And the list of accomplishments by these men and women is endless. We cannot imagine our home without you.”

"This event is a great testament to the wonderful relationship between resident and staff. The employees here are truly amazing and the residents are always thrilled to acknowledge this each year with a beautiful ceremony and holiday gift,” said Megan Letts, human resources director for Monarch Landing.

“We are happy to make your day a bit brighter with this monetary gift, but what we hope more than anything is that behind the gift in the envelope, you will sense the love and appreciation the residents of Monarch Landing have for you. We value the energy and enthusiasm you display. We love you; not just for what you do, but who you are…men and women with high standards who bring excellence to your place of employment which just happens to be our home.”
