Enter Grayslake gingerbread house contest

Miss Grayslake, working with Junior Miss Grayslake, Little Miss Grayslake and Tiny Miss Grayslake, are putting together a gingerbread house contest to benefit charity. Contestants are invited to build a house and display it at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum the last two weeks in December.

The houses must be 95 percent edible and should not exceed one square foot, including the base. Contestants should feel free to embellish their designs with candy and sweets. Contestants are asked to make a donation of nonperishable food items to the PLAN Food Pantry.

To register, email grayslakequeens2012@aol.com. Space is limited. All entries are to be delivered to the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, 164 Hawley St., between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Those unable to make the drop off date are invited to make alternate arrangements with the event organizers.

The public will be invited to view the entries from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays through Dec. 29.
