Bartlett Resident Named Chef of the Year

Thomas Ryan, Director of Food Services at Resurrection Retirement Community, was recently named “Chapter Chef of the Year” by the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Chicago Chefs of Cuisine, Inc.

Tom received the honor at the ACF Chicago Chef of Cuisine annual holiday dinner on December 3, 2012, which took place at the Renaissance Hotel Chicago.

“We are so proud that ACF Chicago has recognized Tom for the great work he does at our community,” said Ken Kolich, Executive Director at Resurrection Retirement Community. “Our residents, employees and visitors enjoy the delicious meals Tom and his staff prepare.”

Tom has been with Presence Health for over 10 years and has served as the Director of Food Services for Resurrection Retirement Community for the last six years. Very involved in the local, state and national culinary communities, Tom is a Certified Executive Chef (CEC), Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) and a Certified Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Instructor (IFSSMI). Additionally, Tom currently serves as Treasurer of the Chicago Chefs of Cuisine chapter of the American Culinary Federation and is on the Audit Committee for the American Culinary Federation.

Tom earned his associate’s degree in culinary arts from Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Ill.
