Man stabbed in Lake Zurich McDonald’s parking lot
Police are asking for help in finding a male offender who stabbed a 21-year-old man twice in the abdomen early Wednesday outside a Lake Zurich McDonald’s, authorities said. The stabbing occurred shortly before 2 a.m. in the McDonald’s parking lot at 653 S. Rand Road. Full story.
Arlington Heights man gets 23 years for running over cop
A 37-year-old Arlington Heights man convicted of trying to run over a Chicago police officer in 2010 on Chicago’s Rush Street was sentenced Tuesday to 23 years in prison. The sentence for Michael Cacini includes a 20-year term for attempted murder and a consecutive three-year sentence for aggravated battery to a police officer. Full story.
Lake Co. prosecutors dropping battery charge for man cleared of Waukegan rape
Lake County State’s Attorney Mike Nerheim announced prosecutors will request dismissal of an aggravated battery charge against Bennie Starks, who was wrongfully convicted of raping a woman in 1986 and was recently released from prison after serving 20 years. New deal with Dist. 300 teachers won’t raise taxes

Elgin gives nod to new police, fire radio system
The Elgin City Council’s committee of the whole gave its OK last night to move forward with a nearly $11.7 million agreement with Motorola Solutions to purchase a new state-of-the-art police and fire radio system.
