Woodlands Academy hosts annual Winter Wonderwalk

Magnificent Lake Forest residences decorated in holiday finery will welcome Winter Wonderwalk guests of Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart on Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Christmas decorations dazzle as they adorn the masterful proportions of these homes, which are among the most historically and architecturally significant properties in the Lake Forest community.

Winter Wonderwalk presents four residences: The Schweppe Estate, a 27-room Classic English Renaissance home built in 1916 and designed by Frederick Wainwright Perkins; a stately Georgian built in 1946 and designed by Boyd Hill; a gracious red brick Georgian constructed in 1892 and designed by Henry Ives Cobb; and a Country French style home designed by the Martin Design Group and built in 1995.

Knowledgeable docents in each home point out architectural details and decorative features.

Admission is $60 per person, which includes admission to the Sip and Shop Cocktail Party, the Home Tours, and the Boutique.

The Holiday Boutique on Woodlands’ campus runs from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, and reopens from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday for the Sip and Shop Cocktail Party. Admission is $10 at the door.

The Boutique will reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, and run to to 3 p.m. allowing shoppers plenty of time to browse the wide variety of unique gifts and decorative items offered by more than 40 select vendors.

Housewalk Tours begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, and run through 3 p.m. Ticket pick up for the Housewalk Tours runs from 1-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, and begin at 9 a.m. on Dec. 5 at Woodlands Academy.

Winter Wonderwalk 2012 co-chairs are Mary Oelerich of Chicago and Jeanmarie Olson of Evanston. Boutique Chairs are Angela Alvarez and Andrea Perino, both of Lake Forest.
