State police: Body found in southwestern Ill. home

WASHINGTON PARK — Illinois State Police are investigating the death of a 48-year-old man whose body they say was found in a home in the southwestern Illinois village of Washington Park.

Investigators did not immediately release the name of the man they say was found dead Wednesday by police who were asked to check on his well-being.

State police Lt. Dave Wasmuth says the man appeared to have been dead for days, and that evidence at the scene indicates he was killed.

No other details on what police found at the scene have been disclosed. The man’s identity was not immediately released.
