Antioch teacher not charged
Criminal charges will not be filed against an Antioch Elementary School teacher accused of grabbing and bruising a student’s arm, police said Thursday.
After what Chief Craig Somerville called an extensive investigation into the matter, police determined “no evidence of criminal intent exists.”
The case was reviewed by the Lake County state’s attorney’s office, too.
The complaint against the teacher, who has not been publicly identified, was filed Nov. 13, the same day the student reported being injured.
The teacher was placed on paid administrative leave after the complaint was filed, pending the outcome of the investigation, Antioch Elementary District 34 Assistant Superintendent Mark Ostap said at the time.
Ostap could not be reached for comment Thursday.
