Naperville group asks voters to reconsider election districts

A group of residents unhappy with Naperville’s 2015 evolution to an election district system hope to ask voters on April 9 if they would like the city to continue electing city council members at large.

Representatives of the group calling itself “Yes At Large” filed a 2,000-signature petition with the Naperville city clerk Wednesday to place a new referendum question on the ballot. The proposed question asks “Shall the city of Naperville elect city council at large instead of part of the councilmen at large and part of the councilmen from districts?”

Naperville voters approved a referendum proposal in November 2011 to elect some city council members at large and some from five districts beginning in 2015.
