CROSSFIT RLB-THE BOX - SEE US IN ACTION ON 12/08/2012

Crossfit RLB – The Box is an official CrossFit affiliate located at Cardinal Fitness on Route 83 in Round Lake Beach. Athletes range in age from children to over-sixty, from never-exercised to super-strong. They all have one thing in common – a healthy obsession with fitness.

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that offers constantly varied, functional movements, from cardio to weight lifting, gymnastics to high intensity interval training, and much more. It is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive.

CrossFit's specialty is not specializing. As stated on the CrossFit.com website, “Routine is the enemy.”

Boxes (the CrossFit term for Gym) are popping up all over the country and the world. ESPN airs the annual CrossFit games where the best athletes from around the world compete. A CrossFit athlete, Rich Froning, was recently named “The Fittest Man on Earth”, his picture on the cover of Muscle & Fitness Magazine. The CrossFit craze has come to Round Lake Beach.

CrossFit classes consist of a Workout of the Day or WOD. From beginners to competitive athletes, kids to the elderly, everyone who begins CrossFit is referred to as an athlete, regardless of experience or fitness level. Everyone does the same WOD, which are scaled in workload and intensity to suit every individual. You're not competing with others but with yourself. Everyone wants you to win. If you are the last to complete the WOD, you'll be encouraged, cheered on, and applauded. CrossFit offers a great sense of camaraderie. That, plus the impressive results, leads many to say that CrossFit is positively addictive.

CrossFit is s discipline, it's grit, it's fight, it's fun, it's a way of life.
