Turkey trotters raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief

Several dozen neighbors, friends and family gathered for the 6th annual Turkey Trot in Ivy Hill on Thanksgiving. Runners, joggers and walkers met at Ivy Hill Elementary school around 9am before taking their own pace around Lake Arlington for the annual neighborhood get together.

The event began six years ago to work off few calories before the big feast, but through the years participants have raised money and donations for various causes including local food pantries. This year more than $500 was donated to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy Relief.

After the run and walk, neighbors and friends gather at one house for breakfast, while many of the kids take part in a friendly game of tag football in the field at Ivy Hill.
