Fear for the future if compromise fails
In her book “Sister Revolutions,” which compares the American and French revolutions, Susan Dunn warns that “ ... a coolness and wisdom must provide patience in disagreement and compromise for advancement or the government will perish and the makers with it.” In other words, it is crucial that all legislators understand and practice the art of compromise so that our nation can move forward. Every legislator must remember that compromise has been and always will be a principle of the democratic process.
