Anti-gun group honors Dold, Quinn

Anti-gun advocates have honored Gov. Pat Quinn and Congressman Bob Dold with awards for their leadership.

The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence announced the awards last week.

They cited Quinn’s leadership in the fight against gun violence, including attempts to keep Illinois as the only state that doesn’t allowed concealed carry. They also pointed to the Chicago Democrat’s recent proposal to ban assault weapons in Illinois.

The group also recognized Dold, a Kenilworth Republican who lost his re-election bid earlier this month. The group says Dold crossed party lines to oppose “dangerous” gun legislation.

The council was founded in 1975 by several suburban women concerned about handgun violence. The group’s goal is to raise public awareness and enact change in laws and behavior.
