LULAC of Waukegan announces The Little School of Electricity
Waukegan, IL- The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) of Waukegan is launching a two week program on electricity for children from ages 7 – 15 thanks to the support of Midwest Generation Waukegan Station.
The program, which coincides with the Holiday break, will integrate science, reading, writing and art while learning about electricity, students will begin by learning about Thomas Alva Edison, including drawing their artistic interpretation of Edison, then they will build an electric model similar to the one Edison created during the 1800's, and finally visit the Waukegan Generating station to learn how electricity is made.
"We are grateful to Midwest Generation for partnering with LULAC and allowing us to bring this educational program to the children of Waukegan,” said Julie Contreras, President of LULAC of Waukegan.
The Little School of Electricity is scheduled to begin the second week of December.
The program will conclude with an awards ceremony where students will receive certificates of completion.
