Mueller Memorial Blood Drive Garners Community Business Support, 132 Donors

LOMBARD, Illinois— The Bill Mueller memorial blood drive was held November 12 at both Yorktown Center and the Lombard Village Hall. A total of 132 units of blood were collected, with 21 deferrals, deeming the drive a success.

The success of the drive was boosted by the support of the business community who partnered with the Village in honor of Mueller. Donors received gift certificates to Buona Beef, Chick-fil-A and Culver's-Lombard for donating blood. Mueller's widow, Eileen Mueller, and daughters, Debbie Rapata and Donna Fruehe were also present to personally thank the donors and present to them a magnet, bearing the words of the late Village President: “Every day is a gift, take time to enjoy it!” The magnets were personally made by the Mueller family.

Carol Bauer, Executive Coordinator to the Village Manager and Coordinator of the Village blood drives, related that one business contacted her informing her of the fact that he is planning to put Bill's words on the message portion of his business sign. “This is yet another way of remembering Bill Mueller,” Bauer added.

Thanks are extended to all the blood donors from the Mueller family who sincerely appreciated the memorial blood drive. The Village's next blood drive is scheduled for January 16, 2013.
