Sweet kitten siblings hope sad story has happy ending

Submitted by Save-A-Pet

Each of Save-A-Pet’s residents comes in with their own story and it was no different for Legend and Destiny. When a teenager discovered three very young kittens surrounding their deceased mom, she immediately scooped them all up. One of her friends took one of them while she brought the other two home, apparently unbeknown to her mother. It didn’t take long for them to be “discovered.” They initially had decided to keep the little boy called Legend, and brought Destiny, his sister, to Save-A-Pet.

Her little eyes looked a bit different and the shelter’s vet technician immediately noticed that she was actually missing her upper eyelids. They also found out that she had intestinal parasites and a skin infection that requires weekly medicated baths. Save-A-Pet then called the family to let them know that they needed to take her brother to the vet as soon as possible in order to get him checked out. Instead, the family decided to surrender him and Legend got reunited with his sister. It was as if they had never been apart and they immediately snuggled together. Legend is also missing one upper eyelid. As a result, they need eye drops to keep their eyes lubricated.

After the trauma of losing their mom and not quite understanding everything that was happening to them, they are now safe, getting all the medical care they need and, of course, Save-A-Pet volunteers very much love them as if they were their own. While they are currently not available for adoption, Save-A-Pet was there when they needed rescue. They have a home until they are ready to find their own family. This wouldn’t have been possible without the continued generosity of everyone, and Save-A-Pet is happy to share one of their many success stories with.

Save-A-Pet is completely funded by private donations. If you would like to help, donations to the Rescue Fund can be made by mail at: Save-A-Pet, P.O. Box 266, Grayslake, IL 60030 or online at www.saveapetil.org. Any amount is always very much appreciated as it continues to allow the shelter to save precious lives like Legend and Destiny. If interested in adopting them when they are healed, call (847) 740-7788, ext. 101.
