Cook library district debuts communitywide cookbook
Last winter, the Cook Memorial Public Library District launched a communitywide request for recipe submissions for their upcoming cookbook “A Library of Recipes: Cook Park and Aspen Drive Cooking Together”.
The community response was so overwhelming, that by April more than 300 recipes were collected. After many months of collecting recipes, the library is pleased to announce the cookbook is now for sale and will debut at a kickoff event at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Libertyville Civic Center, 135 W. Church St.
Chef Michael Maddox, formerly of Le Titi de Paris, will demonstrate how to make dazzling holiday canapes, and Chef Jean-Marc Loustaunau from Cafe Pyrenees will demonstrate his creme brulee recipe, which can be found in the cookbook.
In addition to the chef demos, participants will have the opportunity to sample delicious recipes from the cookbook and enter a drawing for great prizes.

The hardcover cookbook serves up 370 down-home recipes from local residents, businesses and restaurants in eight delectable sections. Overflowing with a mix of soups, salads, appetizers, side dishes, entrees and desserts, “A Library of Recipes” captures the distinct local flavors of the wonderfully diverse community.
The sturdy three-ring design, one-of-a-kind recipes, and helpful hints blend to create the perfect sampling of all that library residents have to offer. Each recipe features the name of the person and/or business who submitted it and the community in which they live within the district.
That, along with an index of contributors, will make it easy for everyone to locate the favorite recipes of their friends and local residents.
The cookbooks will be sold by the library throughout the holiday season at the Cook Park location, the Aspen Drive location, and on the Bookmobile. It will also be sold at Someone’s in the Kitchen and How Impressive in downtown Libertyville; and for one night only at Cafe Pyrenees from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 14 at An Evening With the Authors. The cookbook can be purchased and signed by Chef Jean-Marc, who contributed three recipes from his repertoire of local favorites at this special book signing.
Cost is $15 per copy at all locations. Proceeds will help enhance library services and provide more children’s programs, computer classes, author visits, enhancements to the Digital Library, additions to collection and much more.
