Sente is not true independent

In Melody McGraw’s October 26 letter to the editor, she claims that Carol Sente stood up to her own party leadership in Springfield. Nothing could be further from the truth. When I ran against her for state representative in 2010, Sente received over $500,000 in contributions from Speaker Madigan and Madigan controlled organizations all the while claiming to be “independent.” She ducked her only scheduled debate back then, and continues to duck debates in her current race against Sid Mathias.

Far from being independent, she votes 81 percent of the time for Speaker Madigan’s agenda. We need representatives in Springfield who owe their allegiance to their constituents back home and not to the bosses in Springfield who finance their campaigns.

Sid Mathias as both mayor of Buffalo Grove and as state representative has consistently put the needs of people back home first and deserves our vote in November.
