Lombard advises of Finley Road detours to Sunset Knoll on Election Day
LOMBARD, Illinois—For those individuals whose polling place for the November 6, 2012 election is Sunset Knoll, the Village of Lombard would like to make motorists aware of roadway construction on Finley Road and access to Sunset Knoll (which is a polling place.)
Northbound Finley Road is closed from Edgewood Avenue to Charles Lane. To access the Sunset Knolls facility, motorists must utilize the detour that is in place. Due to the road construction and anticipated heavy voter turnout, allow extra time for your trip to the polling place.
To access Sunset Knoll from the north: Motorists should access Finley Road at Maple Street. Turn on to Finley Road and proceed south to Sunset Knoll (alternate route — Hickory to Edson to Harding/Harrison/Ethel to Finley.) To leave Sunset Knoll, exit to the right (south) on Finley Road and proceed toward Roosevelt Road.
To access Sunset Knoll from the south: Motorists must follow the detour sign at the Finley Road/Edward Street intersection. Turn right (east) on Edward Street and head east towards Main Street. Turn left (north) on Main Street and proceed north to Ethel Avenue, Harrison Road, Harding Road, Madison Street or Maple Street. Turn left (west) on to the chosen street and proceed to Finley Road. Turn left (south) on Finley Road and proceed to Sunset Knoll. To leave Sunset Knoll, exit to the right (south) on Finley Road and proceed toward Roosevelt Road.
To access Sunset Knoll from the west: Motorists should access St. Charles Road heading east toward Elizabeth Street. Turn south on Elizabeth to Maple Street. Proceed right (west) on Maple Street to Finley Road. Turn left (south) on Finley Road and proceed south to Sunset Knoll. From Route 53, motorists can turn east on Madison Street or Charles Lane only and access southbound Finley Road. To leave Sunset Knoll, exit to the right (south) and proceed towards Roosevelt Road.
To access Sunset Knoll from the east: Motorists should proceed west on Ethel Avenue, Harrison Road, Harding Road or Madison Avenue to Finley Road. Turn left (south) on Finley Road and proceed south to Sunset Knoll. To leave Sunset Knoll, exit to the right (south) and proceed towards Roosevelt Road.
Note that Wilson Avenue is currently closed at Finely Road. Ethel Avenue, Harrison Road and Harding Avenue are open to Finley from the east. Madison Street is open to east and west traffic at Finley Road however; it is restricted to one lane. From the west, motorists can only access Finley Road from Madison Street or Charles Lane.
Drivers should follow the recommend detour route as applicable to respective location from Sunset Knoll.
