Obama needs time to undo Bush damage
While I appreciate your measured tone and slight lack of enthusiasm while endorsing Mitt Romney for president, I am disappointed in that endorsement. Your statement that Mr. Romney understands that jobs are created by business and not government is undermined by his repeated statements that he will “create 12 million jobs in the next four years.” Just because he had throwaway line at the end of a debate, that government doesn’t create jobs, it doesn’t mitigate the other times he stated his plan to create them.
And so far, the jobs he has created through his business are in China, not here. Just ask those folks in Freeport, who are losing their jobs in a few weeks. Bain Capital, which has Mitt Romney as it’s primary stockholder and creator of the business blueprint, is outsourcing American jobs once again. And his endorsement of Paul Ryan’s ill-conceived “balanced” budget, though he has moved away from the most damaging parts of late, leads me to believe he will swing back the other direction, once the votes are counted. Mr. Romney spouts the rhetoric of the audience of the moment, not of his true beliefs.
The president has not been all I had hoped. But he has accomplished a lot, in the face of the storm he walked into, as well as the lack of compromise from the right. It took George W. Bush eight years do his part. We owe the president the same amount of time to try to turn it around.
