National School Lunch Week celebrated at Sunnydale

To help kickoff this year’s promotion of National School Lunch Week 2012, Sunnydale Elementary School, Streamwood, hosted a “Join us for Lunch Day” Oct 11.

Streamwood Mayor Billie Roth, Chief of Police James Keegan and Fire Chief Chris Clark attended. The officials dined on egg rolls, grapes, garden salad with tomatoes and ranch dressing, snap peas, carrot sticks and mixed fruit cocktail.

Dorinda Jeremiah, assistant lead lunch supervisor and Jackie Natali, lead lunch supervisor set the table with an oriental flair. YAC members, accompanied by their adviser, Ms. Dutton, greeted the guests.

After lunch, the special guests joined the students in the gym for the dance/exercise portion of recess. Donald Jeremiah, a parent volunteer, D.J.’d the event. Numerous photos were taken and a good time was had by all.

The day focused on healthy eating and exercise and how they both play an important part of all our lives.
