3 face drug charges after North Aurora shooting

Two North Aurora men who were shot earlier this month in an apparent drug-related home invasion now face felony drug charges after authorities searched their apartment and found drug paraphernalia, marijuana, heroin, and guns, according to police and court records

No one has been arrested in connection to the Oct. 2 incident in which two men where shot in their apartment but not critically injured.

“The investigation has determined that this home invasion was drug-related. No further information is available at this time as to the offenders in the home invasion,” North Aurora Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki wrote in an email Friday. “The investigation remains open.”

According to police, three people who live in the second floor apartment in the 100 block of South River Road face felony drug charges: Stephen F. Kolar, 22; Baldemar A. Aguilar, 23; and Deanna Hernandez, 21.

The three are in the process of surrendering to authorities, police said. Kolar and Aguilar were both shot when two men went to their apartment the morning of Oct. 2.

Police obtained a search warrant later the same day after authorities noticed drug paraphernalia and guns in the apartment when they responded to the shooting, court records show. Aguilar and Kolar also refused to cooperate with authorities.

According to court documents, police searched the apartment and seized: 10 cellphones; two bongs; 13 glass pipes; a shotgun; two rifles; two handguns; at least 106 rounds of ammunition; about 5.5 ounces of marijuana; foil packets that tested positive for heroin; a digital scale; and numerous plastic bags containing marijuana residue.

Aguilar and Hernandez both face charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Their bail was set at $15,0000, meaning each must post $1,500 to be free while the charges are pending.

Kolar, 22, is charged with manufacture/delivery of cannabis, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail is $40,000 and he must post $4,000 to be free while the case proceeds.
