Best Palatine pizza? Sample, then vote

The Palatine Jaycees will be holding a contest to determine who makes the best pizza in the Palatine area from 11:30 a. m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Durty Nellie’s Bar and Grill, 120 N. Smith Street, in Palatine.

Over 20 pizza restaurants that deliver to Palatine have been invited to compete. Artistic Cuisine, Papa Saverios, Slice of Chicago, Pizza Bella and Vini’s Pizza are just a few of the restaurants that have donated pizza to this annual community event.

“Palatine has so many delicious pizza places to choose from and this is a great opportunity to try a number of them,” said Traci Hinshaw, chairman of the project. “For a $10 donation, area residents will be able to judge for themselves who makes the best pizza in the area and at the same time help the community. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and silent auction with great items to win. All proceeds will go to the Palatine Jaycees to help in their projects that support the community.”

Every year, the Palatine Jaycees conduct many programs to serve the community and accumulate funds for operation of the chapter and community donations. Included in these projects is the Fourth of July Festival, Christmas tree sales, the annual garage sale and other projects that benefit the community and help raise funds.

The Palatine Jaycees provide development opportunities that empower young people between the age of 21 and 40 to create positive change. As one of Palatine’s foremost organizations for young people, the Palatine Jaycees have provided community-based events and funding to Palatine for more than 50 years. As one of the largest chapters in Illinois, the Palatine Jaycees offer a combination of community service, individual development and social opportunities.

The Palatine Chapter holds its monthly general meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month, at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road, in Palatine.
