Free Seminar on Risk Management for Local Businesses

The North Barrington law firm of Kelleher & Buckley, LLC is inviting local business owners to a free seminar “What Happens to Your Business When Something Happens to You?” The informational session is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23rd at the Kelleher & Buckley offices at 102 South Wynstone Park Drive.

“The objective of this seminar is to give owners a big picture view of planning for the future of their business,” said Andrew J. Kelleher, Jr., a founding member of the firm. “Many owners get so wrapped up working in their business that they don’t step back to work on their business to protect the value that they have built.” The seminar will look at several issues to use for planning for the future including business entity structuring, risk management, buy-sell agreements, asset protection, revocable trusts, retirement benefit trusts and associated planning, and others. The first 10 attendees will also receive a free copy of the book “E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It”.

“The seminar will allow for plenty of discussion with the participants as we look at different business types and the needs of planning for businesses in different stages of their existence,” said Kelleher. “We’ll cover some of the tools and options available to an owner that allow them to protect their business, if they were to die unexpectedly, or in the case in which they want to sell their business. There are a number of tax issues that have to be considered in each case, as well as the impact to families and other owners in some corporate structures.”
