Fundraiser set to honor local musician

Friends and family of Brett Anderson, a suburban musician, comedian, singer and DJ who collapsed and died while preparing for performance last year, will be hosting a fundraiser in his honor Sunday, Oct. 21.

The first BBQ for Brett will be held at The Neighborhood Inn, 2322 Hassell Road in Hoffman Estates, beginning at 4 p.m. Wrist bands will cost $25 (includes food). There will be raffles, live music and more.

Money raised from the event will be used to establish The Brett Anderson Memorial Scholarship, to benefit students possessing the love and passion of musical and comedic performance.

Anderson, 29, of Schaumburg, died Oct. 22, 2011 after collapsing at a Schaumburg hotel where he was scheduled to perform as a DJ.
