Lombard police seek armed robbery suspect
Lombard police are searching for a suspect in the armed robbery of a currency exchange Thursday morning on Roosevelt Road.
At 8:47 a.m., a female employee had just unlocked West Suburban Currency Exchanges, Inc., when a partially masked black man displaying a black semiautomatic handgun forced her into the employee work area, authorities said.
Police would not say how much money, if any, the man stole from the store at 425 E. Roosevelt Road.
The man, described as 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slender build wearing a gray zip-up hoodie with dark pants, then fled the shop west on foot carrying a black backpack.
The employee was injured when the man confronted her, but Lombard police Deputy Chief Pat Rollins said she refused medical treatment.
A few witnesses helped Lombard police build a description of the suspect, but Rollins is asking anyone who saw the offender before or after the robbery or knows his identity to contact investigators at (630) 873-4400.
