Officials should uphold law on marriage

The virus of the “rule of man” has spread from the U.S. president’s office to the state of Illinois. “Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and Cook County Clerk, David Orr have said that they will not defend the legality of the existing law that defines marriage as between one man and one woman.” (Daily Herald, Sept. 28)

The government officials named have decided that they don’t personally like a particular law. Therefore, these three conspire to abrogate the law and establish a new law that conforms to their liking. If this is not the “rule of man,” there is no such thing.

These public officials swore to uphold the laws when they took the oath of office. Now, they are violating that oath. Where are the statesman who will stand up to these usurpers and require that they enforce the law?

How about Judge Sophia Hall? Is she a statesman or a sympathizer with the conspirators?
