Lori Skipper, Joliet: ‘It’s my time to give back to the ACS’
Last year, at 35 years old, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer that spread to all of my lymph nodes. I had a mastectomy, four months of chemo and six weeks of radiation along with three breast reconstruction surgeries.
For the second year, I’m walking in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer because I want to bring awareness to the community and let them know you can get breast cancer at any age and to help raise money to help find a cure.
The American Cancer Society helped me in so many ways. It provided me with emotional support, literature, information, the Look Good, Feel Better program, a free wig and coloring books for my 3-year-old daughter. It’s my time to give back to the ACS. I recently volunteered for the Outreach program.
I have my own team called Hendrickson. It’s the company that I work for.
