Scotland set to host 40th Ryder Cup

The 40th Ryder Cup returns to what is considered the birthplace of golf — Scotland.

That’s where the American and European teams will battle for the next Ryder cup trophy, a modest award that dates to 1927 and stands 17 inches high and weighs 4 pounds.

Here are the future sites of the next four Ryder Cups:

2014 Ryder Cup

Gleneagles golf club

Perthshire, Scotland

2016 Ryder Cup

Hazeltine National GC

Chaska, Minn.

2018 Ryder Cup

Le Golf National

Paris, France

2020 Ryder Cup

Whistling Straits

Kohler, Wis.
