Help collect native plants seeds

Citizens for Conservation restoration volunteers have launched their fall seed collecting schedule.

Join them 9 to 11 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays, and 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sundays. This schedule runs through October.

Volunteers meet at Citizens for Conservation headquarters, 459 W. Route 22, Lake Barrington, the white farmhouse with a silo across from Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital.

Seed collecting can be done by volunteers of all ages and is a great fall family activity. New volunteers are welcome. Seed of a wide variety of native plants is collected, used in CFC preserves in the Barrington area and is shared with many nonprofit organizations for their local restorations.
