Pitching matchups: The White Sox’ Jake Peavy (11-12) vs. James Shields (15-9) Thursday at 7:10 p.m.; Gavin Floyd (10-11) vs. Jeremy Hellickson (9-10) Friday at 7:10 p.m.; Chris Sale (17-7) vs. Matt Moore (10-11) Saturday at 3:05 p.m.; TBA vs. David Price (18-5) Sunday at 1:10 p.m.

At a glance: This is the White Sox’ final home series of the regular season and it will help decide whether they make the playoffs. The Rays have the best pitching staff in the American League, and they are still in the wild-card chase. The Sox swept a three-game series at Tampa Bay in late May. Since Aug. 1, Shields is 6-2 with a 2.32 ERA.
