52nd District race critical

The Nov. 6 general election is important for many reasons both nationally and locally. Locally, there is a critical race in the 52nd District that pits conservative Republican David McSweeney versus liberal Dee Beaubien. We are supporting David McSweeney in this race.

McSweeney is a thoughtful leader in the Republican Party who will go to Springfield and bring back fiscal sanity to our state's budget process. He is a tireless worker who has spent time crafting his positions on the issues and putting forth solutions to the serious problems we face in Illinois.

By contrast, Dee Beaubien has left the Republican Party and has joined forces with the Democratic Party. Her mailings have been thus far paid for by Democrat House Speaker Michael Madigan and the Democratic Party. You can't claim that you are an “independent” while at the same time taking support from the party in power that has overseen tax increases, a ballooning budget and a pension system that has been looted — all contributing to the downgrading of Illinois' credit rating.

This is an important contrast because our state budget crisis hurts each one of us. With people like David McSweeney in the legislature we can finally turn the Springfield mess around.
