Waukegan parolee charged with stealing $200 in baby formula

A 40-year-old Waukegan man who was out on parole for a retail theft conviction has been charged with attempting to steal more than $200 worth of baby formula from a Walmart.

A loss prevention officer at the Antioch Walmart, 475 E. Route 173, spotted a man attempting to steal more than $200 worth of formula on Sept. 14, and the man left the formula and fled on foot when confronted by security, according to police. Later that day the same loss prevention officer, who also works at a Walmart in Zion, saw the man commit a similar crime at the Zion business, police said.

Zion police arrested Keith C. Joyce of the 2700 block of Sunset Avenue.

Antioch police joined Zion police in their investigation and arrested Joyce on charges of burglary, retail theft and criminal trespass to property.

Police said Joyce also had been wanted on a larceny warrant in Lake County.

Joyce is being held at the Lake County jail on $50,000 bail and is due in court Oct. 2.
