Des Plaines Park District employee gets 'Dedicated to Excellence Award'

Jennifer Boys, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, received the Dedicated to Excellence Award at the September 18 Board Meeting, from Linda Traina, Superintendent of Recreation. Boys was recognized for her strong work ethic, the implementation of innovative safety protocols, and long-standing loyalty to the District. The Dedicated to Excellence Award is presented three times a year to employees who have made a positive contribution to the Park District. Potential recipients are nominated by Park District staff members, and evaluated by the Employee Relations Committee and Administrators for creativity, responsibility, community relations, and customer service.

Boys began her career at the Des Plaines Park District in January of 1997 as the Aquatics Supervisor. In 2008 Boys was named Assistant Superintendent of Facilities. Her responsibilities included overseeing the Lake Park Golf Course and Golf Center Des Plaines. In 2011, she was named Assistant Superintendent of Recreation. She now oversees all the Pool Operations, Mountain View Adventure Center, Prairie Lakes community Center, and the Leisure Center, in addition to the recreation staff and all recreation programming.

Internally at the Park District, she is the Safety Committee Chair, and a member of the Aquatics Taskforce, Strategic Planning Team, and the Customer Service Committee where she wrote the new District guidelines for customer service. Boys also implemented the Customer Service Training Seminars to help staff continue to make customer service the most important aspect of their jobs. “Jenn is vigilant about her responsibilities and takes pride in her work,” said Traina. “She is a great representative of the District out in our community.”
