Regulation has kept banks in check
I read and hear about how the Republicans/Tea Party advocates want to do away with government regulation. Has the public forgotten that under less government regulation during the Reagan/Bush years the savings and loans went belly up and cost the taxpayers $500 billion? That without proper regulation during the Bush II years the banks had to be bailed out by the taxpayers for over a trillion dollars? Frankly, we need regulators to watch these guys like a hawk, and there is no one in the Mitt Romney camp ready to do that.
