If yes, please explain: NoCandidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 As always, this office is dedicated to having knowledgeable, friendly staff who are more than eager to assist. Customer service is prime.Key Issue 2 Due to the innovative technology which now exists in the Recorder's Office, my focus will be to complete the rewrite of our Land Records System to take advantage of new technologies that will make the system easier to support and upgrade.Key Issue 3 Our entire Storage Area Network (SAN) needs to be replicated to the off-site Disaster Recovery facility. Our Current Disaster Recovery plan only hosts the Land Records System. This replication would host a live replica of every server and all data that is not part of the Land Records System.Questions Answers Is there a technology that would improve the flow of business in the recorder's office and provide easier access to the public? What would the return on investment be?I, along with staff, helped design and develop a new land records recording system which has not only increased the flow of business, but allowed me to give space back to the county, and reduced staff from 33 to 19. This new technology allows us to return documents at the counter and make images and data available real time. Kane was the first collar county to provide free internet access to land records, with indexing back to 1979 and images going back to the l950s. Kane is the first county to stream live our data and images to a data center, as part of our backup and disaster recovery. Kane was the first county to e-record with 3 vendors instead of one and has allowed municipalities to e-record without use of a vendor, thereby saving those costs. How would you go about improving government transparency? As I believe this office belongs to the people, my door is always open to staff and members of the public. I have taken bold steps to ensure that the information contained in this office is easily and readily available to the public, in most instances without going through FOIA.With the recorder's office being a statutory office with some autonomy from the county board, are you comfortable with the way budgeting is handled? Please explain. It should be noted that this office is entirely funded by user fees, not tax dollars. Since taking office in 2000, I have a proven track record of implementing improvements that benefit the taxpayers of this County while ensuring that this office does not go over budget. Having adhered to my own guidelines, I have no discomfort with the budgeting process. In most years, I have returned money to the county. Will you voluntarily adopt the county's more stringent ethics ordinance for yourself, your office and your employees?I, along with my staff, already adhere to a stringent ethics code. This field intentionally left blank.Candidate did not respond.
