I was assigned to represent the Village of Huntley, during my term as trustee,on the Mc Henry County Council of Government and continue in that position including two sub-commitees, transportation,and newly formed Northwest water planning alliance, water policy task force. in I also participated in the Mc Henry County ground water task force in 2007. I was part of the group that initiated, planned and published the "Water Conservation Report and Implementation of Guidelines" for McHenry towns and villages.Have you ever been arrested for or convicted of a crime? If yes, please explain: NoCandidate's Key Issues Key Issue 1 Mc Henry County has experienced unprecedented growth in population over the last ten years. I believe that need for expanded use of public utilities and water resources should be a number one priority. This will include adequate availability of water [ground water] for the present and future growth. Water conservation and water pollution are important issues that need be addressed. The continuing use of hazardous use of chemicals have a potential to contaminate our ground water supply. The water availability from ground water aquifer is finite and the usage may exceed the supply.Key Issue 2 As I continue to be involved in the McHenry County Council of Government, I promote the expansion of the road construction and maintenance . Senior transportation is sorely needed as the population ages. Bicycle paths are to be encouraged to cut down on pollution of autos.Key Issue 3 I advocate fiscal responsibility in county government. It would be better to consolidate county government departments to reduce spending. Open spaces are important in that they provide the public with recreational areas andQuestions Answers McHenry County has managed the recession without a budgetary crisis like those in other counties. How do you ensure the county continues on that path and that reserves aren?t depleted? Are there specific budget areas that need more attention?McHenry County has managed its budget well and hopefully will in the future continue on this path.Does the McHenry County Board have a good transportation improvement plan? Please be specific and suggest whether you think anything is missing or should be scrapped.The McHenry County Board has in place an ongoing plan to resurface roads based on weather and surface use. The board has construction plans for road expansion and improvement as towns and villages grow. I support the "continuous flow roundabouts" which will improve the flow of traffic in Algonquin and Randall Road.Does the county need to address its ethics policies? Why or why not? If so, how?The ethics policy meets the requirements of Illinois State Ethics Regulations.Assess McHenry County?s efforts thus far in terms of groundwater preservation and protection. What needs to be done now and in the future?Through the efforts of the McHenry Ground Water Task Force, a manual of guide lines for water conservation is available to towns and villages in the McHenry area. This will serve as a base for discussion on ways to conserve water and as a way to inform the population of the need to conserve and limit water usage for the future.Assess how the county health department approached the whooping cough outbreak. What should have been done differently?Through articles in newspapers and other media, the health department has informed the public of the number of whooping cough cases, description of the symptoms and contact information.. I believe the county health department has met the emergency adequately.
