Geneva businesses plan yoga event

Submitted by Going To My Happy Place Yoga

Two Geneva businesses, Going To My Happy Place Yoga and Peaceful Parlour, are hosting a yoga practice of 108 sun salutations titled “Global Mala-Yoga for Peace,” in honor of world peace and unity, led worldwide by Shiva Rea, a renowned master yogini.

Qualified instructors from Going to My Happy Place yoga will lead this event from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, on the green space by Peaceful Parlour, 212 S. Third St. in Geneva. There is major significance in practicing 108 sun salutations. The number itself represents the cleansing of 108 delusions of man (greed, hate, lust, jealousy, etc.). It is believed these delusions keep you from knowing your true self and your interconnection with all humans and beings. Removing these delusions allows people to live joyfully and peacefully with yourself, others, and the environment.

To bring the practitioners even closer together and experience oneness, a flash meditation mob will be held after the sun salutations. This entails comfortably sitting in silence or meditation for approximately 20 minutes and then chanting ‘ohm’ (OM) for about five minutes. The sound ‘ohm’ (OM) is said to be the manifestation of God in form and the absolute reality, without beginning or end and embraces all that exists.

Attendees may stay for a few sun salutations or all, a portion or all of the meditation or chanting. The only requirement is that you come with an open heart and willing to give and receive divine peace, love and joy. Any interested participant is welcome to this free event. The rain location will be at Going To My Happy Place, 316 Anderson Blvd., Geneva. For details, call (630) 402-0033, (630) 232-6300 or visit www.GoingtomyHappyPlace.com.
