Voter registration closes Oct. 9 for November election

The voter registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 9, for Cook County residents to vote in the Nov. 6 election.

Cook County Clerk David Orr’s office is working with schools and community organizations to train deputy registrars and coordinate voter registration drives. Locally, those events are:

타 Sept. 13, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Harper College Hullabaloo.

타 Sept. 20, 7 p.m.: Chicago Sky women’s basketball game, Rosemont.

Voter registration drives also will be held Sept. 25 at the suburban Cook County courthouses.

To register to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen; at least 18 years old by Election Day; and a resident of your precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day. Voters who have recently moved must re-register at their current address prior to the deadline.

To verify registration status and see your polling place, use the “Your Voter Information” tool on cookcountyclerk.com.

Suburban Cook County voters can print a voter registration application from cookcountyclerk.com, or request one at (312) 603-0906. Applications are available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Korean and Polish.

After completing the application, return the form to the Cook County Clerk’s office, 69 W. Washington St., Fifth Floor, Chicago, IL 60602. All applications must be delivered or postmarked by Oct. 9.

To register in person, bring two pieces of identification (one displaying your current address) to Orr’s downtown office. Or, register at your village or city hall, or township headquarters. Or, go to a local Cook County courthouse:

타 5600 W. Old Orchard Road, Room 149, Skokie

타 2121 Euclid Ave., Room 238, Rolling Meadows
