Fire damages South Barrington home
A South Barrington home suffered heavy smoke damage from a fire that apparently started in the garage.
South Barrington police said the fire began around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police Sgt. Jim Kaplan said it appears the fire began in the garage of the home at 25 Windemere Lane. He said firefighters from Hoffman Estates arrived on the scene to extinguish the blaze, which was contained to the garage and the foyer.
There were no injuries, he said, while the home suffered heavy smoke damage. Two birds in cages in the backyard were brought to safety.
The cause of the fire has not been disclosed.
