Wheeling H.S. to host 45th annual Chicagoland Marching Band Festival

Wheeling High School will host the 45th annual Chicagoland Marching Band Festival Saturday, Sept. 22. The festival takes place at Wheeling High School, located at Hintz and Elmhurst Roads in Wheeling.

Wheeling is home to the longest-running marching band festival in Illinois, and this year will be the largest ever. The festival kicks off at 3 p.m., with 24 of the best high school marching bands scheduled to perform. Local bands competing this year include Glenbrook South, Rolling Meadows, Elk Grove, Hersey, and Prospect.

Awards for Class A and Class AA bands will be held at 7:15 p.m., followed by Class AAA competition. Class AAA awards will be presented at 10:15 p.m., following an exhibition performance by the award-winning Wheeling Wildcat Marching Band.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for students or seniors. Children age 4 and under are admitted free. Family plan, which admits 2 adults and 2 children, is $25, with a $5 charge for each additional child. Food and drink will be available.
