No one injured in Naperville factory fire

A fire inside a Naperville factory Wednesday afternoon caused about $25,000 in damage, but there were no reported injuries.

Management at the Promet Processing Corp. told firefighters that repair work was being done above a pit that contained aluminum and other combustible materials, and the materials caught fire.

Firefighters responded to the warehouse at 2:59 p.m. and found black smoking coming from the front of the building, but the flames had been extinguished by workers before their arrival.

The fire was inside a 25- to 30-foot-deep pit that contained aluminum shavings inside the warehouse at 951 Frontenac Road.

The building was evacuated while firefighters ventilated the smoke and extinguished the remaining hot materials, officials said.

The Naperville Police Department and Aurora fire department assisted at the scene.
