The Wheeling Police Department will host another class of the Citizens Police Academy this fall, taught by experienced officers to give residents and insider’s look at gangs, homicide investigation, forensics, criminal law, use of force, drugs, and other interesting topics. Students will also learn about the weapons that officers carry and have the opportunity to fire a weapon under the guidance of our range officers (the shooting portion of the class is optional). Classes are held on Thursday evenings, Sept. 6-Nov. 15, from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Wheeling Police Department. Applicants must live or work in Wheeling and be over 18. A background check will be conducted. Info: www.wheelingil.gov/Services/Police/CitizensPoliceAcademy.asp.
