Hoffman Estates Platzkonzert Germanfest offers brats, beer

The village of Hoffman Estates Arts Commission is bringing back its Oktoberfest-themed, open-air event, Platzkonzert Germanfest, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.

This free celebration of all things German will be held at the Virginia Mary Hayter Village Green, 5510 Prairie Stone Parkway off Route 72 in the Prairie Stone Business Park, across the street from the Sears Centre Arena.

The Johnny Wagner Band will provide authentic German music, while the D’Waldstadttanzer dancers entertain. The Tenors 3 will also be singing. Many other surprises are in store, including a climbing wall (courtesy of the Hoffman Estates Park District), a stein-carrying contest and activities for the kids.

Like last year, German beer and wine will be available for purchase to complement the authentic bratwurst, sauerkraut and German potato salad.
