Headline showed bias on economy
As a Daily Herald reader I notice how often your articles tend to lean to the left instead of being impartial. On Aug. 4 on the front page I read in huge bold letters, “Big day in jobs news.” This very positive headline would make one think that the economy is on a huge upswing. One only has to go to Page 6 to find the rest of that article, albeit in fine print, reporting the rest of that wonderful picture painted on the front page. There were 163,000 jobs added in July. The unemployment rate however went up from 8.2 percent to 8.3 percent.
We all would like to keep with the rosy outlook on the front page, but the sad truth is that 5.2 million Americans have been without jobs for the last six months. These are the Daily Herald statistics for those of you who want the whole picture — the entire story as should be reported.
Shame on you Daily Herald, for once again showing bias as to how you report a story! Yes, the how is just as important as the what when it comes to reporting the truth. This kind of selective reporting only blackens the reputation of honest journalism.
