Pavement patching, resurfacing projects
The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced 21 pavement patching and resurfacing projects at various locations in eastern Lake County are scheduled to begin, weather permitting, the week of Sept. 4.
The improvements consist of intermittent pavement repairs at each location for several days at a time. The projects could require reducing the roadway to a single lane of traffic with flaggers present during the daytime hours where construction is taking place.
The first four locations are: Old Skokie Highway from State Line Road to Route 41 in Wadsworth; Route 41 from Route 21 to I-94 (Tri-State Tollway) in Wadsworth and Gurnee; Route 21 from Washington Street to Route 41 in Gurnee; and, Route 120 from Route 45 to Route 131 in Waukegan and Gurnee.
The remaining locations are:
ŸVernon Hills: Route 60 from Route 21 to Route 83; Route 60 from Route 21 to I-94; Route 21 from Lake-Cook Road to Hollister Drive.
ŸLibertyville: Route 137 from just east of Route 21 to just east of O’Plaine Road.
ŸHighland Park: Route 22 from Route 41 to northbound Route 41 exit ramp; Route 41 from Park Avenue West to Old Elm Road.
ŸBannockburn: Route 43 from Deerfield north village limits to Everett Road
ŸWaukegan: Route 43 from Pulaski Road to Route 41.
ŸGurnee: Route 132 from Route 45 to Route 131.
ŸGreen Oaks: Route 176 from Bradley Road to Route 41.
ŸZion: Route 173 from Delaney Road to Lewis Avenue; Route 131 from Sunset Avenue to Russell Road.
ŸNorth Chicago: Route 41 from Route 60 to Route 137; Route 41 from Route 137 to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
ŸPark City: Route 41 from Amhurst Parkway to Route 120; Route 41 from Route 120 to Washington Street.
ŸLake Bluff: Route 131 from Route 176 to Bayshore Drive.
Motorists should anticipate delays and allow extra time for trips through these areas, and are urged to obey the speed limit, observe closure signs and remain alert for workers.
The tentative completion date for all of the projects is November 15.
J.A. Johnson Paving, of Arlington Heights, is the prime contractor on the $1.9 million project.
